Ashtanga Yoga, also known as Raja Yoga, is the scientific method of enlightenment propounded by the ancient sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. Contents of the book include an introduction to the eight limbs; yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadi and discussion of the subtle body; kundalini, nadis and charkas. The majority of the book centers around Sadhana (Practice) and includes instruction for Shat Karma, the Four Purifications, Mudras, Meditations, Asanas and Arati. This highly regarded book is a tremendous resource you will refer to time and again.

1981 Sri Rama Publishing. Paperback. 75 pages.

Please note: While this title does include a section on Asana, this is not a book to guide students through the physical Ashtanga asana practice (Primary Series, Second Series, etc.) as developed by Sri K Pattabhi Jois. If that is what you are looking for, please check out the following titles: Yoga Mala, The Practice Manual by David Swenson, Ashtanga Yoga by John Scott, and Power Yoga by Beryl Bender Birch.
