Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a moving meditation. The physical memorization and techniques of inner focus create a one-pointed state of mind. We are excited to work with students individually and in groups. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is most easily learned by attending three to six sessions per week. We offer 4 options: Mysore Style, Beginner Ashtanga, Led Primary Series and Led Primary/Intermediate.
Mysore Style Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga sessions offer an opportunity to learn Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Students are introduced to the tradition one piece of information at a time, developing the discipline of self practice, with the guidance of the instructor. Students arrive any time between 6:00 and 7:30 am to close out by 8:00 am. This open start time approach enhances the independence of the practitioner and allows each person to practice within his/her endurance level or time frame. In the beginning practices last about 20 minutes and can lengthen out to 90 minutes. Mysore Style Ashtanga Vinyasa classes are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings 6:00 – 8:00 am.
Led Primary Series Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga classes are a great option for those who want to practice the entire Primary Series without relying on memorization. Scott, Kathy and Ashley lead these classes. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Friday 5:40 – 7:10 pm
Led Primary/Intermediate Series Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga classes offer the same rhythm as the other Ashtanga classes with more back-bending and strength building poses. Scott and Kathy lead these classes. Wednesday & Thursday 5:40 – 7:10 pm
Gentle Yoga
Gentle Yoga classes are a great way to restore, relax and rejuvenate. Perfect for beginners to learn the basics about postures and pranayama. These classes are wonderful for practitioners of all levels to release built up tension and practice mindfulness. Class begins with a short breathing exercise and closes with meditation and savasana. Tuesdays 7:30-8:30 pm and Fridays 2-3:00 pm.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa Yoga is breath-syncronized movement and stillness. We incorporate the strong breathing style, isometrics and pace of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and add our own experiments and fun. All levels are welcome and everyone is encouraged to do what is most appropriate for him/her . All of our instructors have their own favorite postures they incorporate into their classes, it would be rare for two classes to be the same. Check the schedule for times and days, there are many offerings.
Yogi Hoops
Yogi Hoops combines the conscious connection of movement and breath with the spirit and joy of Hula Hooping. Join Samson Resnicow, from the International Competition Hooping Idol, in a playful exploration of new poses and practices. The class starts with vinyasas and sun salutations to warm up the core and spine, moves into the fundamentals of core-hooping (hooping on your body) and hand-hooping and then combines hip and heart-opening poses with hoops in ways that will stimulate the body and mind. Hoopers and yogis of all levels are encouraged to come; variations according to experience are always taught. Hoops are provided.
