Debbie took her first yoga class in 1996 from her former dance teacher and Kripalu yoga instructor, Jane Selzer, at her suggestion. Since that first class at Main Street Yoga, Debbie has studied with many of Burlington’s teachers, including Kathy McNames, who re inspired a love of handstands and Sofi Dillof, fellow Jivamukti yoga instructor and inspiration to pursue the Jivamukti teacher certification.
Debbie began teaching yoga in 1998 and has been continuously practicing and teaching since that time. Debbie has taken many workshops and studied with many teachers, including Sean Corn, David Swenson, Tias Little and others. In 2000, Debbie participated in David Swenson’s Astanga Yoga teacher training at Yoga Vermont. In 2003, Debbie took an intensive month-long training at Omega Institute with David Life and Sharon Gannon and became a certified Jivamukti Yoga Instructor. (Jivamukti Yoga is one of the nine internationally recognized styles of Hatha Yoga with an emphasis on spirituality and philosophy in each class). Debbie humbly thanks David Life and Sharon Gannon and all of her many teachers who have led the way for her to pursue this sacred path.
