My first memory of yoga was watching a woman in a black leotard on PBS television in the 1970’s when I was trying to find my beloved Sesame Street. But it was not until a Phys. Ed. credit at UVM in 1992 that I completed my first sun salutation. My immersion into the yoga lifestyle and Ashtanga practice occurred during a Yoga Vermont clinic in 2002 and has gathered strength ever since. I have taught yoga to a variety of students ranging from kindergarten, Girl Scouts to health club members and seniors with limited physical ability.
The important things to know about me can be gleaned from an interview with my sons, 2-year-old Julien and 5-year-old Domenick.
How does your mom make you laugh?
Julien: “Like this, ‘hahaha!’”
Domenick: “When you pretend to pull my toes off”
What was your mom like as a child?
Julien: “Like a peanut butter and jelly”
Domenick: "I don’t know. I wasn’t there.”
What is your mom’s favorite thing to do?
Julien: "To do this?” (puts finger up his nose)
Domenick: "Play with me.”
What does your mom do when you are not around?
Julien (continues picking his nose): "Go back to yoga”
Domenick: “Yoga”
