Yoga Vermont offers a rolling admission, flexible schedule and individualized Yoga Teacher Training. Students begin the program when it is convenient, attend when able & graduate when YA hour requirements have been met. For a 200 hour certificate 180 contact hours with Kathy are required. Some participants are taking years to complete the course and a couple of people, who moved to town specifically for the Instructor Course, finished in a few months. There are many ways to participate and accumulate hours, with Saturday's offering the larger time blocks.
The cost for a 200 hour certificate is $2,500.
The cost for a 300 hour certificate is $3,750.
The 200 & 300 hour certificates are recognized by Yoga Alliance.
If 500 hours are completed exclusively at Yoga Vermont a 500 hour certificate will be awarded for personal use.
We start Saturday Studio sessions with pranayama, history, philosophy, mantra, chanting, kriyas, etc. Morning asana practice lasts one to two hours and can be anything from vigorous to gentle. We practice a lot of Ashtanga, Vinyasa and self-directed Yoga. We practice a bit of Iyengar, Sivinanda, Yin & Restorative. Teaching, observing & assisting are worked into the program as individuals become interested. We study philosophy, history, lineage, influential religions & concepts of universe/self.
There is a half hour break, usually at Noon or 12:30, for eating, resting and catching up with friends.
The afternoon is spent on topic exploration, considering comprehensive concepts of Yoga, pranayama, chanting, final presentations, assists & exploring current interests of the group. Posture names & key philosophical sanskrit names will be committed to memory through call & response repetition, repetition, repetition. Natural Alignment & assists are explored in the morning asana practices & broken down in the afternoon sessions. Our take on anatomy & physiology is practical, based on reading bodies doing Yoga and knowing individual students. I do love the ten chakra system.
Each participant will have opportunities to teach/lead/share asana, pranayama, chanting, philosophy and topics incorporating Yoga into our daily lives. There is a final presentation requirement for completion of each 200 & 300 hour level course. The presentations will be 20 - 30 minutes for lecture format & a maximum of 60 minutes if the information presented is a sample class.
Yoga Vermont is a registered school with Yoga Alliance; we adhere to their standards of comprehensive education.
