Class Descriptions

Ashtanga Yoga -  our foundation here at Yoga Vermont.  We love the philosophy.  We love the history.  We love the practice.  We love the love.

Ashtanga Yoga - Beginner Class  - a workshop stye practice.  Become comfortable with the choreography of movement & stillness on breath.   Questions will be answered as they arise.

Ashtanga Yoga – Morning Mysore - learn Ashtanga Yoga one piece of information at a time, developing the discipline of self practice, Students arrive any time between 6:00 & 7:00 am to close out by 8:00 am.  This is an excellent method for committing Ashtanga Series to memory.

Ashtanga Yoga – Primary/First  Series - a vigorous discipline.  Classes are  led to the extent that is appropriate.  If  beginners are present there will be more instruction.  Seasoned practitioners can expect less.  Led classes provide a beautiful structure that enhances breath & keeps the pace of practice even.  

Ashtanga Yoga – Intermediate/Second Series - the same rhythm as other First Series with more back bending & strength building.  

 

Vinyasa Yoga - breath-synchronized movement,  just like Ashtanga.  Instructors incorporate their own sequencing with ujjayi, isometrics & the Ashtanga pace.  These classes are led by demonstration.

Grateful Dead Hour is a strong Vinyasa class with a different live show set list each week.  You know what it's about!  Peace.  Love.  Freedom.

Yin/Yang - combine deeply restorative poses (yin yoga) with a vinyasa practice (yang yoga) to stretch and strengthen your body.  Class begins & ends with Yin Yoga poses designed to ground & soothe,  while the vinyasa practice in between will strengthen & get us out of our usual daily thought patterns.
