Julie Peoples-Clark, RYT, is certified in the Yoga for the Special Child™ method and a Registered Svadhyaya Yoga Teacher with the National Yoga Alliance. She is a former professional modern dancer and teacher of professional and college level modern dance.

Julie’s daughter Ella is an amazing three-year-old little girl with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. Julie’s search to help Ella lead her to Sonia Sumar and the Yoga for the Special Child™ program. Having practiced yoga for 10 years prior to Ella’s birth, Julie was drawn to Yoga for the Special Child™. Attending the first Yoga for the Special Child™ intensive was the first step in Julie’s recovery from severe post-pardum depression. Not only did she learn techniques to help Ella, she began practicing yoga again. “One of the most profound messages that I learned from my yoga practice is that in order for me to care for Ella I have to care for myself. I began practicing and living yoga everyday. I woke each morning washed my face, brushed my teeth, read from the ancient yoga texts, meditated, and practiced yoga asanas. My depression began to lift and my daughter continued to improve. Today I wake each morning with the same routine. I am 100 % better then I was two years ago, I no longer have crippling, dangerous thoughts consuming my life. I find joy each day and I marvel at my incredible daughter and all she has overcome. Ella is my Guru!”

Julie continues her study of yoga and is enrolled in a 500-hour certification program with the Silver Lotus Institute in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Julie, her husband Dave and Ella moved to Vermont in May 2006 after spending the past year and a half traveling the world volunteering with children with brain injuries and their families and exploring many different healing options for Ella. Currently, Dave is attending the University of Vermont’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, and Julie and Ella spend their days home schooling, hiking, biking, and practicing yoga.

Julie teaches the Adaptive Yoga Six Week Sessions for Children and Adults.
