My introduction to yoga came in November 2001 when I registered for Yoga Vermont’s beginner Astanga course. Having taken up running earlier that year, I was in search of additional ways to promote increased health and serenity. Quite unexpectedly, I found myself intrigued and challenged by this form of yoga.
Within my first year of practicing Astanga, I felt a blossoming within my mind, body, and spirit as I had never before experienced. And when combined with coming into relationship with my current partner and starting a meditation practice, my life was transformed.
Yoga has played an increasingly important role for me in the midst of varied personal struggles and physical challenges - especially in light of my decision to stop running in mid 2007. My practice both on and off the mat has served as a consistent reminder to allow patience, mindfulness, acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, faith, and love to infuse my life. Whenever I falter, yoga helps bring me back to center.
After several years, I came to the realization that I wished to share with others this practice which continues to so positively enhance my life. How grateful I am to have been given the opportunity to do just that while learning from so many others in the yoga community along the way.
